PLAYER PACT & CODE OF CONDUCT

OUR PROGRAMME

Our Development programme is designed for players of all abilities with the emphasis on players improving their core skills while enjoying coaching sessions from our inspiring and experienced coaches. We are proud of the welcoming, inclusive and fun atmosphere at the golf club.

As well as our mission to build on basic skills, the academy offers the opportunity for our juniors to really express their love for the game with competitions, and stickers being awarded for ‘Player of the Week’.

DROP OFF & PICK UP

Please ensure that you are on time for drop off and pick up for the sessions.

Children need to wait in a line by the wall outside the ladies changing room, and opposite the Lab. Once the coach arrives, a register can be taken before the children are then led down to the designated session area.

Coaches will always stay with a child until they are picked up, however; if the parent is more than 5 minutes late, the coach will call the emergency contact number to gather estimated time of arrival. Please bear in mind that often the coaches have other sessions and commitments to carry out so late drop off or pick up can create a big issue. If pick up is more than 15 minutes after scheduled end time you may incur charges in line with session costs.

SAFETY Guidelines & procedures:

We want everyone to enjoy their Golf in a safe environment. Take care of your personal equipment at all times ensuring that it is safe and appropriate. No jewellery is to be worn to coaching, also no sweets or gum to be chewed whilst being coached.

At the start of your child’s free taster session the coach will go through all safety guidelines and procedures, to reiterate what has already been read by yourself and your child.

When a coaching session is in progress, your child must stay within the confines of the area that is being used. This will either be the driving range, the short-game area, or either of our two putting greens. Players are to respect the green, and to avoid damaging it with their golf club, or any other implement.

Driving range:

  • There is a designated red and green zone, please stick to the green-zone when you are not hitting balls from a bay (so that you don’t get injured by a golf club).

  • Players are not to swing golf-clubs unless they are in a hitting bay.

  • Players are not to run out in front of their bay, onto the grassed area (to avoid being struck by a golf ball).

Short-game area:

  • Players are to keep to the far side of the short-game area (on the side of the houses).

  • Players are not to go past the green and white stakes, at the back of the short-game area.

  • Players are to stay behind red cones when others are hitting.

  • Players are not to hit in the net whilst on the short-game area.

  • No full swings are to be made on the short-game area.

Putting greens:

  • Players are to stay within the confines of the fence line on the top putting green by the Clubhouse, and within the confines of the concrete path on the bottom putting green.

  • All children are expected to keep noise to a minimum when sessions are in progress on the putting green, as this is the area closest to the golf-course, and the first tee hitting area.

  • No full swings are to be made on the putting greens.

If you hear someone shout the word “FORE!”, you must duck and cover your head, as an errant golf ball may be heading towards you.

BEHAVIOUR AND SPORTSMANSHIP

We want all our players to mix with everyone no matter who they go to school with. This is very important for their development and also helps them socially within their groups. Golf should always be a fun experience and to socialise as part of a group.

All Golfers are required to abide by the Code of Conduct set out below.

Golfers must:

  1. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people and treat them equally within the context of sport.

  2. Adhere to guidelines, rules and regulations laid down by the Golf Academy.

Parents and family members must be on their ‘best behaviour’ at all times when attending junior coaching sessions, and for that reason a parental code of conduct is in place as follows.

  1. Profane language or harassment of Golfers, coaches or staff members will not be tolerated. The use of threats and/or violence in any form will not be tolerated.

  2. Parents are to observe the rule that NO coaching is applied, instead, encourage the Golfers and applaud good play. Leave the coaching to the Coaches.

  3. Parents are requested to conduct ALL administrative, registration processes through the Academy Administrator (Kate Pearce - kate@torquaygolfacademy.co.uk).

  4. Your first point of contact for queries and/ or feedback should be the parent liaison officer (Kate Pearce - kate@torquaygolfacademy.co.uk).

  5. Parents must refrain from encroaching on sessions. Please only approach the session when invited to do so by the respective coaches.

  6. If a member or parent has a reason to complain regarding coaching matters, then he should direct his/her complaint in writing to the Academy Administrator (Kate Pearce - kate@torquaygolfacademy.co.uk) within 48 hours of the incident occurring.

  7. Parents must refrain from approaching the coach during training sessions and remain clear of the playing area at all times.

It cannot be stressed enough that any parents, people associated with the Golf Academy or a Golfers found in breach of the Code of Conduct will be dealt with severely and could face permanent removal from the Golf Academy.
